Nick Claydon is a graduate of the University of Wales College of Medicine (Cardiff, 1986) and is registered to the General Dental Council. He attained his MScD in Periodontal research at the University of Wales and his PhD from the University of Bristol entitled, Development and Application of Methods to Study Plaque Control by Dental Health Products. He was accredited as a specialist in Periodontics by the General Dental Council in 2000. Nick is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is a faculty member of the British Society of Periodontology. He is currently a Clinical Research Fellow and Lecturer at Bristol Dental School and in addition, is a Clinical Lecturer in Implantology at Cardiff Dental School.
His research interests include developing research methodologies, periodontal conditions, bone augmentation and peri-implant lesions, the scientific evaluation of oral health care products, tooth wear, dentine hypersensitivity and tooth whitening. He has conducted more than 70 clinical research studies and has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals in these fields of interest. Nick lectures in the national and international forum and is a reviewer for high impact dental journals.
Nick founded a thriving dental practice in Cardiff in 1997. In 2010, he established his state of the art specialist dental practice at The Pines in Whitchurch, Cardiff. He has developed a national reputation for aesthetic treatment of complex restorative cases involving periodontal, implant and prosthodontic treatment. A particular sphere of interest includes the management of peri-implantitis lesions. Nick’s innovative approach to dentistry has lead to the adoption and implementation of the cutting edge technologies. Nick lectures widely on his research and practice concepts.
He contributes to the periodontology, bone augmentation and peri-implantitis programmes in the Bristol and Cardiff Dental School Masters degrees for Periodontology and Implantology, as well as lecturing on the undergraduate dental course on Restorative Dentistry. He is an active member of the British Society of Periodontology, the Association of Dental Implantology, a member of the International Team of Implantology and is a Fellow of the Higher Academy of Education.
Nick utilises his valuable teaching experience as mentor both within and external to the Practice Group, managing complex restorative, periodontal and implant cases for dentists. His practice is accredited by the Department of Postgraduate Dentistry in Cardiff.

Alison gained her BDS from the University of Wales in 1990. After a post-graduate year in Nottingham, she has worked in Cardiff ever since (half of this time at Rhiwbina Dental) providing friendly, compassionate, family dentistry. In 2005 she obtained her DPDS.
She has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry, and particularly enjoys using her artistic skills to provide patients with natural looking smiles, often with minimally invasive adhesive techniques.
Her hobbies include stained and fused glass, music and walking her rescue Staffie. Alison loves a good film or book and is always keen to swap tips with patients. She lives in Whitchurch with her family and other animals

Wynn qualified in Dentistry at the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1984 and went on to achieve his DPDS in 2006. Since graduating Wynn has been in private practice.
Wynn has had a keen interest in aesthetics and restorative dentistry and has lectured extensively around the UK, Ireland and the United States of America. He has also had many articles published in Dental Journals.
Our aim is to achieve the very best cosmetic result with the absolute minimum of tooth reduction. The wealth of tradition, combined with the very latest treatments gives the practice a very special atmosphere.

Andrew was brought up and educated in Whitchurch. He has had an exciting career to date with time spent working in hospitals in the UK, as a dental volunteer in the Himalayas and thoroughly enjoyed completing his training in the Welsh Valleys. He is now happily settled back in Whitchurch and has worked for Rhiwbina Dental Surgery since 2007.
Andrew prides himself with his management of anxious patients and always strives to provide the highest levels of care in a friendly atmosphere. He feels it is important to continuously update his skills and has attended advanced postgraduate courses in dental implants, smile makeovers and facial rejuvenation.
Andrew's impeccable attention to detail and high end precision compliments his passion to provide his patients with the perfect smile.
Outside of work he enjoys long walks with his Welsh Collie, Dewi, and loves attending Arts events throughout Wales. To keep fit Andrew enjoys playing squash, going to the gym and Skiing.

Dr Joon Seong is a graduate of the University of Bristol and is registered to the General Dental Council (GDC No. 158303). After attaining his membership from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Joon gained his PhD from the University of Bristol.
Joon works as a Clinical Research Fellow and a Clinical Lecturer at Bristol Dental Hospital, University of Bristol. His research interests include developing research methodologies, periodontal conditions, bone augmentation and peri-implant lesions, the scientific evaluation of oral health care products, toothwear, dentine hypersensitivity and tooth whitening. He has conducted over 30 clinical research studies with many publications in peer-reviewed journals. Joon is heavily involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching & training of Periodontology at the University of Bristol and lectures in the national forum.
Joon has developed a reputation for aesthetic treatment of complex restorative cases. Joon’s particular field of interest include management of missing teeth as well as management of failing dental implants. He very much enjoys the adaptation and implementation of the cutting edge technologies to his everyday practice and takes great pride and joy in achieving beautiful outcomes with his attention to fine detail.
Joon is a past Council Member (2011-2014) of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), where periodontal guidelines are written and regulated for British Dentist. Now Joon is a voted Faculty Member of the BSP. He is a member of International Team for Implantology (ITI) and is a regional ITI study club director for Cardiff, Wales. In addition he is an active member of Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), British Dental Association (BDA) and International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

Aly is involved with undergraduate teaching & training of Periodontology at the University of Bristol and also lectures in the national forum.
Aly enjoys working together with his patients in order to meet their oral health requirements. He believes in a holistic and specific approach tailored to each patient, from the nervous individual to those looking to improve their smile. He appreciates that one’s experiences and circumstances are fundamental to understanding their dental needs.
He is an active member of the British Society of Periodontology and International Team for Implantology. He is also a Member of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) and the Welsh representative on the committee for the Association of Dental Implantology.

After graduating Robert spent eight years in maxillofacial and oral surgery positions and is now recognised as an expert in oral surgery. During 2000 Robert completed (with distinction) a year-long MSc Implant Dentistry programme at Eastman Dental Hospital, London. This prestigious training is the best of its kind throughout the UK. Since 2003 he has been a Clinical Lecturer in Dental Implantology at Cardiff Dental Hospital. During this time Robert has completed the most complex dental implant treatments including treating patients who have Hypodontia (born with no adult teeth).
Whilst in this role, Robert has been involved in teaching postgraduate and undergraduate students about dental implants and has been involved in setting up teaching programmes at the University of Wales in bone grafting and dental implants. Robert has lectured on the surgical aspects of dental implantology. The post also involves the teaching of implant treatments to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Robert is particularly interested in reconstructing missing gum and bone tissue during implant treatment including soft tissue and bone grafting and guided bone regeneration. As a dedicated member of the Association of Dental Implantology and European Association for Osseointegration, Robert ensures that he keeps up-to-date with the latest techniques. Robert has treated patients on Channel Four’s “10 Years Younger”. Robert also carries out implantology and oral surgery referrals including hard and soft tissue grafting and wisdom teeth extractions. Robert works with us at The Pines two days per week and welcomes referrals from other GDPs.

Cameron graduated from Bristol Dental School in 2007. Following further study and examination he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. In 2013 he successfully completed a two-year diploma in Endodontic Sciences at the world-renowned UCL Eastman Dental Institute. This has allowed Cameron to provide root canal treatment to the highest standards and he accepts referrals from General Dental Practitioners for this service. He continues his studies in this area and is also involved in the teaching of endodontics to both dental students and qualified dentists. In the future, following further training, Cameron plans to apply to be registered as a specialist. In his spare time Cameron is a keen sportsman and loves to play tennis.

Sinéad is a graduate of Queens University Belfast. She graduated in 2013 with distinctions in Conservation, Oral Surgery and Prosthetics and is registered to the GDC (243819). Following graduation she completed her Dental Foundation Training in Wales, at Rhiwbina Dental (www.rhiwbinadental.com) after which she was invited to become an associate Dentist. She thoroughly enjoys practicing dentistry in a Dental Surgery that sits at the forefront of modern clinical practice.
Sinéad has undertaken her postgraduate examinations and is now a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Sinéad has also completed the ITI Foundation in Dental Implants (2015).
Sinéad also works as a Clinical Research Fellow at Bristol Dental Hospital, University of Bristol where she is interested in research relating to Periodontal conditions. She is currently working towards her Masters Degree by research at the University of Bristol.
Sinéad is currently an active member of British Society of Periodontology (BSP), British Dental Association (BDA) and International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Colin graduated from Edinburgh in 1984, and came to Cardiff, joining a specialist restorative practice founded by Eric Joseph in Cathedral Road, eventually taking over from Eric in 1996. In 2015, Colin brought the Cathedral Road practice to join Rhiwbina Dental at The Pines.
Colin is an experienced dental practitioner and has developed a reputation for quality and thoroughness in his practising career.
Colin is experienced in treating advanced restorative and cosmetic cases. He has been undertaking the restorative phase of dental implant treatments since 1990, working with oral surgery specialists. He has been using Astra Tech implants throughout this period and has extensive knowledge of the system, using all types of fixed, fixed/removable, over denture and precision attachment combinations.
Colin has lectured both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a Fellow of the International Academy for Dento-Facial Aesthetics,and is a member of the British Society for Restorative Dentistry, the Association of Dental Implantology and the British Endodontic Society. A co-founder of the South East Wales Independent Practitioner Group, he has also held the posts of Treasurer, Secretary & Divisional Director for the South Wales Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners.
Colin and his wife Carolyn live in Quakers Yard and have 4 daughters. He has many interests, including angling, motorcycling, playing guitar, beekeeping amongst others.

David qualified from Cardiff University in 1986 and has worked in Central Cardiff General Practice since. He developed an interest in implants and cosmetic dentistry early in his practice career and pursued this interest in the UK, Europe and USA.
He was appointed by Marks & Spencer Ltd to be a member of their steering committee when initiating a staff oral cancer screening programme. Patients at the practice now benefit from soft tissue / oral cancer screening at every examination. He was pleased to be included in the Welsh Rugby Union Medical Team covering the 1999 World Cup.
David has a growing list of over one hundred dentists who regularly refer patients for cosmetic, advanced restorative (crowns, veneers, bridges) and implant treatment. He has a special interest in Dental Implants. In 2001 David was granted Restorative Specialist status by the General Dental Council in recognition of his experience in the field. In 2004 he was offered a post as lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Wales Dental School, Cardiff. This consolidated his interest in both the academic and clinical dentistry. His belief in life long learning was rewarded with a diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies in 2004.
David lectures to students and dentists regularly in the UK and abroad. He has recently completed a three year Masters degree in Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics (the first of its kind in Europe) in order to responsibly deliver anti-wrinkle treatments, facial fillers and rejuvenating facial skin peels to his patients.
David, his wife and two daughters keep active with their love of tennis, cycling and ski-ing.

Jeremy graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 1991. He completed Vocational Training in Mid Wales, then took up a Senior House Officer Post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bridgend and East Glamorgan Hospitals for eighteen months before starting as an Associate in General Practice.
Subsequently he became a Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the Dental School, Cardiff. Jeremy receives referrals from other dentists for root fillings.
Jeremy was entered onto the Specialist in Endodontics list at the General Dental Council in 2000. He is an Assistant Editor of the International Endodontic Journal and is an Examiner for Parts 1 & 2 of the Bicollegiate MFDS examinations of the Royal College of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
